At the same time, the province has also implemented many key programs and projects to orient the development of the entire industry: Plan to develop the processing industry of agricultural, aquatic and food products until 2020. , the plan to develop spearhead industries, with priorities for the period of 2016 – 2020, the plan for the development of industrial clusters in the period of 2016 – 2020, the implementation plan of the coconut program for the period of 2016 – 2020, the development plan wind power, electricity development planning in the province in the period 2016 – 2025 and towards 2035, etc. In particular, always pay attention to directing and promptly removing difficulties for businesses and investors; improve the business investment environment; well implement policies to encourage investment incentives; prioritize the allocation of budget for ground clearance, investment in construction of industrial infrastructure to actively attract investment inside and outside the province.

Industrial production value in the period 2016-2020 grows on average 12.32%/year; added value increased by an average of 11.64%/year. The processing and manufacturing industry always dominates with the proportion of 97.56% compared to the whole industry. Export turnover of industrial and handicraft products increased by an average of 14.25% per year, accounting for 89.74% of the total export turnover of the province.
Ben Tre has identified the province’s key industries as coconut production and processing and seafood processing, to invest and consider green growth as a priority focus for sustainable development. At the same time, promoting attraction and calling for investment in projects with high technology level, using clean energy sources (such as wind power, solar power, etc.) and encouraging the use of biogas, ethanol… in order to minimize the harmful effects of climate change in the context of environmental pollution today. Currently, in the province, there are 6 wind power plants approved for development by 2020 with a total capacity of 179.7MW, 13 other wind power projects are under consideration and approval with a total scale of 818 MW and nearly 30 wind power project has been supplemented with the master plan with a total capacity of approximately 3,200MW. In addition, the province has additionally submitted the National Power Development Plan for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045, an LNG gas power center with a capacity of 4,800MW.
Targets for the period 2021 – 2025

Accordingly, striving to realize the production value of industry and handicrafts by 2025 to reach 75,000 billion VND, in the period of 2021 – 2025, the average growth rate will be 16.75%/year. Develop 2,000MW of renewable electricity; deploying investment in liquefied petroleum gas projects in Thanh Phu and Ba Tri districts; transmission grid infrastructure to ensure timely capacity release for renewable energy projects in the area.
The province also strives to achieve export turnover of USD 2,500 million by 2025; in the period of 2021 – 2025, the average growth rate will be 15.81%/year, of which: export turnover of industrial – handicraft products will grow at an average of 16.97%/year. To develop about 5,000 new enterprises, of which about 400 are industrial production enterprises. Reduce the proportion of small and micro enterprises by 2025 to about 75% of the number of operating enterprises; forming leading business groups in fields and products such as processing coconut products, seafood, fruit trees, seeds, supporting industries, tourism services, and logistics services.
The key task of breakthrough in the coming time is to increase investment attraction, develop infrastructure, focus on building infrastructure of industrial parks and industrial clusters as planned. Priority is given to production projects using modern technology, creating added value and contributing high budget, processing industry associated with raw material areas; minimize small projects that are at risk of environmental pollution, use a lot of land, boldly revoke investment certificates for projects that are slow to implement.
